You Killed Me First - The Fox, Lewisham - 26 FEB 2011

I love The Fox in Lewisham... it's a great venue, with a great atmosphere & a lighting rig & sound system that would put most large London venues to shame. The quality of bands is consistently high (the Wild Turkey blotted out almost every recollection of seeing Guns 2 Roses there last year so it doesn't count) & it's run and staffed by people who are passionate about music.

The upshot of all of this is that on any given night there's usually something awesome happening in SE13... last Saturday being no exception when You Killed Me First played their first gig...

Something of an indie super-group, the band is comprised of members of Popular Workshop, Ten City Nation, William & Scarlet O'Haras, they are billed as "so abrasive they'll take your face off, yet melodic enough you'll want to marry them after" and I really can't put it any better than that. From the first song a wall of beautiful noise hits you in the chest and by the end of the set you're left feeling like you've been drenched by a bracing salty ocean wave full of grit & you're coming up for air.

Go listen... better still, go see...
